WeatherMVP uses location to provide weather-based services for your events and venues. This page explains exactly how location is used, what we share, and how you stay in control.
Event Weather Forecasts
Your event's location is used to fetch accurate NOAA weather forecasts for that specific venue or ZIP code.
Nearby Venue Discovery
When you use Field Finder or check in, your device location helps us show sports venues, parks, and fields near you.
Check-Ins
GPS is used to verify you are near a venue when you check in. Only the venue name and approximate location are logged β not your exact GPS path.
Stadium Chatter Context
Check-ins establish your venue context for Stadium Chatter. Your precise location is not shared with other chat participants.
Directions
Venue detail pages may link to map directions using the venue's publicly known address or GPS coordinates.
Weather Alerts
Your home ZIP code and event locations are used to match NOAA weather alerts to your upcoming events.
When WeatherMVP requests location access on iOS, you will see the following Apple permission prompts:
Location (When In Use)
"WeatherMVP uses your location to find nearby venues, check you into fields, and provide event-specific weather."
Camera
"WeatherMVP uses your camera so you can scan sports schedules and add events."
Photo Library
"WeatherMVP uses selected photos so you can import schedules from screenshots or saved images."
You can use WeatherMVP without granting GPS access. If you deny location permission:
You can view and change location permissions at any time in iOS Settings β Privacy & Security β Location Services β WeatherMVP.
Choosing "Never" will disable GPS features but the app will continue to work with manual ZIP/address entry.
